Kait’s Story: NYE Was Supposed To Be Fun

18 years old. New Year’s Eve. In my hometown. One of my brother’s closest friends. I had 1 drink. He had many. Texted me and asked me to see at my friend’s house, where I was. Meet him outside, he didn’t want to come in. Was in my car grabbing a pack of cigarettes. Bent over to grab them and felt hands around my waist. Quickly jumped up and saw it was him. Ease settled in until I saw the look in his eyes. Then it was all fear. He slammed my car door shut and dragged me to the hood of my car. Forced me down on my stomach and put his hand up my skirt. Pulled my underwear to the side. Hear the sounds of a zipper unzipping. No matter how many times I said, “no” “please don’t” “stop” “please stop” he didn’t stop. Sounds of his moans drowned out the sounds of my cries. I laid there limp and realized it was just going to happen. He wasn’t going to stop until he was done. What felt like years only was minutes. Once he was finished I knew by the sound of his zipper being zipped and a hard slap on my back. He picked me up, turned me around, kissed me on the forehead, and started to walk away. About two steps away he turned back and said, “you tell anyone, especially your brother, I will deny it and kill you”. It’s been 4 years. No one knew for 3, and only a handful of people know. No one knows exactly who it is. I’ve accepted it and grown from it. I got professional help. Haven’t pressed charges. Yet. I don’t know if I ever will. But man. It feels great to express it.
